Volunteer

Our model works because of community involvement and the 60 devoted volunteers who are committed to creating positive change among our youth. As we grow to reach more youth in need, we depend on the communities that we serve to make expansion possible.

We hope you’ll consider joining us in our effort!
Here are some ways that you can get involved:

Become a mentor. This includes coming to weekly support groups and being a positive role model to a teen in need of guidance and consistency.

Become a partner. If you work for, or are affiliated with businesses in community, you might consider sharing your services. This may include acting as a resource or teaching work ethic by hiring youth who are involved in Seeds of Independence.

Become a driver. There are services in the community (i.e gym memberships) available to our youth but transportation is a constant obstacle. Many of the teens we work with don’t have a driver’s license and depend on others for transportation.

Become a tutor. An important part of supporting our youth is helping them to graduate high school or obtain a GED. There is a great need for tutors to meet with students (at school, at a local library) and help them to understand and accomplish the required assignments.

Share your expertise. Maybe you’ve done similar work and have ideas to share or a particular skill that may be helpful to our effort.

We hope you’ll join us in a community effort to help support the youth of your own community!
