Long Creek Youth Development Center (LCYDC) is a juvenile detention placement that houses up to 163 young offenders. It is located in South Portland and serves youth throughout southern Maine.
Seeds of Independence mentors spend time each week with a teen who is either committed or detained at LCYDC, working with them to establish plans for success following their sentence. Mentors continue to offer weekly guidance and support after their mentee has been released.
Seeds of Independence partners with parents, caseworkers, LCYDC staff members, teachers and others to provide ongoing support in all areas of youth development.
